.Clifford William Evers, son of John Evers and Annie Lochmiller Evers, was born April 16, 1924 in Denison, Iowa, and died June 1, 2011 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa, of complications of a fall at his home at the age of 87 years, 1 month, and 15days. Cliff, as he was lovingly known funeral service was held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, June 4, 2011 at Hastings Funeral Home, in Jefferson, Iowa. Pastor David Morfitt, of Trinity Lutheran Church provided the words of comfort, with Mrs. Sheryl Sloan at the piano, with special music, Angels Among Us, Moonlight Serenade and What A Wonderful World. Cliff's casket bearers were Ethan Kruszka, Carl Kubalsky, Colt Sellens, Mark Sellens, Todd Pille and John Mobley. Burial was at Jefferson Cemetery, Jefferson, Iowa. A gathering of friends and family was held back at Hastings after the service at the Cemetery. Cliff's family moved to Grand Junction, Iowa in 1937 and he graduated from Grand Junction High School. He farmed with his father and January 12, 1951 married Carol Delone Kinney. They were blessed with two children John and Carmen. They lived south of Jefferson where they farmed and moved to Ogden in 1956 where they also farmed. In 1965, Cliff started working for Electrolux Manufacturing in Jefferson in addition to his farming. In 1967, they moved to Jefferson to make their home. Cliff retired from Electrolux in 1989. He and Carol operated their cleaning business until January of this year. Cliff enjoyed fishing, playing cards with his friends, shooting pool, working in his yard, and raising roses - his favorite being red. Cliff was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Fern Briggs and Hazel Neely. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of sixty years, Carol, son John Evers and wife Kathy of Ankeny, Iowa; and daughter Carmen Evers Sellens and husband Mark of Topeka, Kansas; four grandchildren, Nicole Kruszka and husband Ethan of St. Paul, Minnesota; Elisha Kubalsky and husband Carl of Davenport, Iowa; Colt Sellens and Kira Sellens, both of Topeka, Kansas; three great grandchildren, Dobry and Scout Kruszka; and Priya Kubalsky; other relatives and many friends.
