Connie Benge

Connie J. Benge, 60, of Winterset, passed away peacefully Saturday, November 12, 2016, surrounded by family, at her home. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, November 16, 2016 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Winterset. Memorials may be made to her family. Connie Jean Benge was born November 30, 1955 in Indianola, Iowa, the daughter of Ellis “Owen” and Hazel Jeannette (Douglas) Vickroy. Connie enjoyed fishing, crafting, sewing, drawing, embroidery and most of all spending time with her family. Much of her time was spent with her grandchildren and attending their many activities. She is survived by her husband, Steven Benge; four children, Tracy (Mick) Carper of Norwalk, Nikkole (Todd Anderson) Stuart of Norwalk, Laura (Steve) Hood of Winterset and Daniel (Amy) Benge of Winterset; three brothers, Alvin (Mary Anne) Vickroy of Indianola, Lyle (Joyce) Vickroy of Indianola and Dennis (Cheryl) Vickroy of Indianola; three sisters, Catherine Stout of Prairie City, Iowa, Judy (Dave) White of Altoona, Iowa and Vera (“Butch” Carlson) Terry of New Virginia, Iowa; fourteen grandchildren, Megan Eddy, Jeff Eddy, Libby Stuart, Karlee Stuart, Katelynn Benge, Shelby Weir, Trenton Hood, Nile Benge, Norah Benge, Owen Benge, Oliver Benge, Kenady Luneburg, Michael Carper, Jaxson Carper and one additional grandchild expected to arrive in May of 2017. She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Fay, Gail “Curly”, Leonard “Doc”, and Cecil Vickroy; and two sisters, Marilyn Bigger and Wanda Vickroy.
