Connie Rae Wood - Desoto

Connie Rae Wood, 62, died Thursday, May 15th surrounded by her family at the Taylor House from a courageous battle of cancer. She was born January 15, 1952 to Roscoe Rowland and Dorothy Anderson in Princeton, Missouri. Funeral Services will be 10:30 AM Monday May 19, 2014 at Adel United Methodist Church, with burial at Oakland Cemetery near DeSoto. Friends may call Sunday after 2 PM at McCalley Funeral Home in Adel where family will greet friends from 5 to 7 PM. Connie graduated from Story City High School and graduated from the dental assistant program at DMACC. She spent her last working years at Iowa Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons, PC. She enjoyed caring for family and friends, sending cards and notes, constantly doing thoughtful things for others, especially children. She also enjoyed gardening, cooking & baking, her cats, keeping a clean house, staying in hotels, and was always working hard to keep Steve in line (which family & friends know is a full time job! :) ). Connie is survived by her husband of 41 years, Steve; daughter, Kimberly; son, Brian (Shari); sister, Sherry Ferris; two soon to arrive grandchildren; mother-in-law, Ruth Wood; sister-in-law, Pat Niebes; brother-in-law, Fred Wood; and cousin and "adoped sister", Connie Hufty. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, David Rowland; father-in-law, Orville Wood; sisters-in-law, Karen Jensen and Sandy Wood; brother-in-law, David Bauman; and beloved cat, Kali.
