Connie Sue Schmidt, age 78 of Rippey, passed away on Friday, March 5, 2021 at the UnityPoint Health-Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines, IA. Connies family will host a celebration of life April 24th from 11am-2pm at the Lakeside Shelter at Spring Lake East of Jefferson, IA. A private family graveside service will be held at the Rippey Cemetery. Memorials will be given to her family and may be left at the Carris Family Funeral Home & Cremation Care. Online condolences may be left at www.carrisfuneralhome.com. Connie Sue Schmidt was born on January 7, 1943 at Cedar Rapids, IA to Daniel Robert and Betty Geraldine (Young) Decker. She attended the Perry Schools. She was united in marriage to Gary Allen Schmidt at Jefferson, IA on November 20, 2014. She worked at Schappaugh Florist, in Perry, Wharton's in Garden City, KS and the Seal Tite Corporation, Independence, KS. She was a member of the St. Martin's Episcopal Church. She enjoyed camping at Swede Point or Spring Lake, going to car shows and was an animal lover. In death she rejoins her parents, Daniel and Betty. Left to cherish Connies memory are her husband Gary Allen Schmidt, Rippey, IA, daughter, Stacy Luckinbill, Madrid, IA, grandchildren, Shelby and Kaleb Irwin, step grandchildren, Spencer Irwin, Justine Rinner Haley Irwin and Kristany Schmidt, great grandchild, Kalani Rinner, siblings, Marcia (Bruce) Scharff, Grimes, IA, Douglas (Angela) Decker, Marion, IA, and Machel (Robert) Moffitt, Woodward, IA.
