Survivors include her husband, Bob of Winterset; a daughter Carol Weltha and her husband, Billy of Patterson; a sister Naomi Jean Winsor of Des Moines; a sister-in-law, Marquerite Farren of Newton; two grandchildren, Amanda and BJ; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Richard Farren and Wayne Farren. On November 26, 1947, Cora was united in marriage to Robert Lathrum. She was a dedicated member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church of Winterset and was a member of the Hoosier Prairie Club and the Multiple Sclerosis Support Group. She also enjoyed ceramics and other crafts. Cora died Sunday, March 18, 2007 at the Westbridge Care & Rehabilitation in Winterset after a long battle with multiple sclerosis and recently with cancer. She was 81. Cora Marie Lathrum was born June 22, 1925 in Colo, Iowa, to Omer and Myrtle (Jensen) Farren. She graduated from Colo High School and later attended and graduated from Simpson College with a degree in education. She taught for the Truro and Van Meter schools. Visitation: St. Charles Cemetery. Service: 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 21, 2007 at Ochiltree Funeral Service & Aftercare in Winterset. Family will gather one hour prior to services to receive friends, as well as at a reception to be held at the funeral home following the burial. Memorial: Memorials may be directed to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation of Johnston and the Multiple Sclerosis National Society - Iowa Chapter of Clive.
