Sue Hertz of Dallas Center, Iowa passed away April 1, 2018. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, April 8, 2018 at Hastings Funeral Home of Perry. Visitation with viewing will be after 1:00 p.m. Saturday, April 7, 2018 also at the funeral home, with her family present from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Burial will be Monday at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery at Van Meter. Cora Sue Hertz ("Sue") 79, daughter of Harry Medicus Duncan and Mabel Ellen Ricketts Duncan, was born September 9, 1938 in Agency, MO and passed away April 1, 2018 at her home in Dallas Center, IA, surrounded by her loving family. Sue attended school in Galt, Missouri for most of her childhood. During her senior year of high school her family moved to Des Moines, IA where she graduated from Abraham Lincoln High School in 1956. She then completed one year of college at Grandview College. On August 8, 1959, Sue married Marvin Lee Hertz in Los Angeles, California. Marvin was serving in the U.S. Navy, and they began their married life living in Navy housing. They later settled in Des Moines, Iowa and moved to Dallas Center in 1979. Sue was a very loving wife, sister, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Her family and her faith were the most important aspects of her life. Her grandchildren were her greatest joy and she cherished every moment spent with them. Sue was a dedicated member of World Wide Church of God/United Church of God and treasured her church family. Sue was a longtime volunteer for Broadlawn's Hospital Guild, where she served as president for several years. Over the years, Sue was an in-home childcare provider where she lovingly looked after many children, including some with severe disabilities. She enjoyed selling Tupperware and Sarah Coventry Jewelry and appreciated the many friends she made. Sue was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved daughter Rebecca Sue Hertz; and brother's Carl Richard Duncan and infant brother Frances Lee Duncan. Her memory will be forever cherished by her husband of 58 years, Marvin Lee Hertz I of Dallas Center, IA; son Marvin Lee Hertz II of Des Moines, IA; daughters Regena Ellen Jimenez (Scott) of Dallas Center, IA/Murrieta, CA; and Rachele Denise Kugel (Mike) of Des Moines, IA/ Indianapolis, IN; her precious grandchildren: David A. Faux of Ames, IA; Benyemin A. Zargarian of Clarinda, IA; Joshua D. Hertz of Des Moines, IA; Anthony O. Kugel of Kansas City, MO; Christina R. Kugel of Ames, IA; Angel M. Armagost of Des Moines, IA; Robert N. Armagost of Des Moines, IA; great grandson Justice M. Zargarian of Bondurant, IA; brother Joseph E. Duncan (Marie) of Valley Springs, CA; her precious little dog, JoJo Honeybear; other relatives and friends.
