Corgie Marie Courtney was born November 22, 1918 in Madison County, Iowa; the daughter of Finly Carson and Carrie (Maunders) Addy. Her marriage to Walter Courtney took place on September 18, 1942 in Grant City, Missouri. He preceded her in death on June 9, 1971. She is survived by her daughter, Suzanne Hiatt (Dennis) of Lorimor; her son, Donn Courtney (Judy) of Lorimor; 3 grandchildren (Chet Hiatt, Christy Harger & Mandee Sheesley); 7 great grandchildren (Ashley White, Cody Loftus, Wade Hiatt, Cheyenne Hiatt, Mandy Hiatt, Michael Harger & Katie Harger); a great-great grandchild, Bailey Richards; sisters-in-law, Ruth Wearmouth of Des Moines, and Vernel Addy of Winterset; and a brother-in-law, John Courtney of Tuson, AZ. Corgie was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Walter Courtney; sisters, Flossy Pritchard (Fred) and Beatrice Addy; a brother Dwight Addy and a grandson, Wade Allen Hiatt. Corgie was a homemaker most of her life and worked for a time at Look Magazine in Des Moines. She enjoyed gardening and working outdoors. She loved county music, poetry and reading. She also enjoyed doing word puzzles and was a wonderful cook but above all, Corgie loved her family and was very proud of her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Corgie Marie Courtney died Thursday, January 10, 2008 at Madison County Health Care System, Winterset. She was 89. Visitation: 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., prior to services, Monday, January 14, 2008 at Ochiltree Funeral Service & Aftercare in Winterset, Iowa.
