Curtis Scott Faux, age 50, passed away at his home in Corpus Christi, Texas on June 4, 2013. He was born in Fort Dodge, Iowa on February 4, 1963. He graduated from Eldorado High School in Albuquerque, NM in 1981. Mr. Faux then enlisted in US Navy on July 27, 1982 under the Delayed Entry Program. He attended boot camp on March 21, 1983 in San Diego, CA. He was assigned to the USS Ingersoll. He participated in deployments in the Western Pacific, Indian Ocean and Central American Deployments in 1983, again in 1984 and 1985. After his initial tour he then reported to Naval Station Subic Bay, Philippines. In 1989, he reported to the USS Shasta and was deployed in 1989, 1990 and then again in 1991, he was deployed to Operation Desert Shield and Desert Storm. He then moved to the USS Arkansas to finish his remaining sea tour. In 1992, he was assigned to NAS in Corpus Christi, TX. Curtis served in various positions until his retirement in 2002. He also served on the USS Ardent and the USS Gladiator. His position at the time of his retirement was Leading Mess Management Specialist and Leading Petty Officer of Supply, MS1 (SW). His service awards include the following: Navy Commendation Medal(2), Navy Achievement Medal(2), Meritorious Unit Commendation Medal(2), National Defense Medal (2), Good Conduct Medal (5), Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Kuwait Liberation Medal-Kuwait, Kuwait Liberation Medal-Saudi Arabia, Navy Battle E Ribbon, Sea Service Ribbon(5), and Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist Pin. After retirement he attended Flight Attendant School and started working for Southwest Airlines up until his death. Curtis found that he loved his second career. He went out of his way to make sure his passengers had the best flight experience possible. He is survived by his wife Irene J. Faux; his son, Christopher Stanley Faux; his daughters, Jennifer Diane Faux and Michelle Lee Faux; stepdaughter, Allison Rogers; stepsons, William Rogers and Anthony Rogers; and his former wife, Mila V. Faux; and three grandchildren, all of Corpus Christi, Texas. He is also survived by his parents, Stanley and Carol Faux of Patterson; grandmother, Mildred Davis of Winterset; grandmother, Anna Faux of Oskaloosa; his four sisters, Rhonda (Rich) Tassin of Olathe, Ks, Constance (Jeff) Shaut of Patterson, Elizabeth (Mike) Hetzel of Patterson, and Robin Faux; and one brother, Clark (Jaynie) Faux of Windom, Mn. He also has 4 nephews, 7 nieces and numerous great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Benjamin Davis; grandmother, Elizabeth Faux; and grandfather, Elton Faux. Services will be held 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 11, 2013, at McCalley-Collins Funeral Home in Winterset, Iowa. Visitation will be Tuesday from 10:30 a.m. until service time. Memorials may be left to his family for a future designation.
