D. Wayne Countryman, 85, of Redfield died Friday, October 21, 2016 at his home. A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m., Sunday, October 30, 2016 at the Redfield City Hall Community Room in Redfield. Burial will be held at a later date in the Van Meter Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to the family and online condolences may be made to the family at ochiltree.com. Donald Wayne Countryman, son of Joseph and Gunda (Omit) Countryman, was born on April 27, 1931 in Dallas Country, Iowa. He attended school in Earlham. Wayne was united in marriage with Susie Bainter on January 14, 1951 and four children were born to this union. Susie died February 12, 1985. Wayne worked as a barber in Adel for a number of years before working in the construction business. He built grain elevators and feed mills and the couple eventually moved to Texas where he continued to work in construction. Wayne moved back to Redfield after retiring in 1990. He enjoyed fishing and tinkering on his various ongoing projects. Wayne was a card player, his favorites being Pitch and Cribbage. Above all else, he cherished the time he was able to spend with his family and friends. Wayne is survived by his four children, Beverley (Gary) Rosenbeck of Guthrie Center; Raymond Countryman of Fort Madison; Delbert Countryman of Des Moines; David Countryman of Dallas Center; 15 grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Audrey Countryman; Marguerite Stonehocker; Doris Harwood; Mary Bainter; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Gunda; two brothers, Harris Countryman and Ward “Pete” Countryman; and great grandson, Luke Countryman.
