Davis, son of Joseph A. Davis and Dorothy Faye Davis, was born January 10, 1926 in Grand Junction, Iowa and died June 28, 2012 in Jefferson, Iowa at the age of 86. Dale graduated from Grand Junction High School in 1946. He was united in marriage to Donna Joanne Flynn on March 9, 1947 at the First Christian Church in Perry. They met at a square dance in Perry and continued to dance beautifully together throughout their married years. They were blessed with two sons Duane and Brian and the boys do not recall any harsh words between their parents. They lived in Grand Junction when Dale was inducted into the U.S. Marine Corps on December 3, 1951, and served during the Korean War. Donna accompanied him to California where he was stationed. After returning home, he served in the active reserves and was honorably discharged in 1959 as a Sergeant. Dale had worked for Wiltse and Mears as a parts man, and for Doug Wessling and Louie Tolsdorf on their farms and later for Warren Rowles. In 1957 Dale and his family moved to a farm south west of Grand Junction where he continued to farm on his own. After retirement Dale had read meters for the REC, much of the time with Donna at his side. Dale was a devoted family man, caring, patient and totally in love with Donna. His grandchildren were all very important to him. Dale was an active member of the United Methodist Church in Grand Junction and had served in various positions over the years. He loved auctions; sometimes his family would define them as "Junk Sales". He enjoyed basketball, baseball, fishing, wood working, and his membership in the Ray Hawbaker American Legion Post in Grand Junction. He was active with his family in 4-H and their livestock projects. Dale was proud of Brian's State Fair Championship with Dale's "homegrown" Charlois steer. A fond and light hearted memory was his championship in hog calling contest at the State Fair in 1968. Dale was preceded in death by his parents Joe and Dorothy Faye Davis; his in-laws Harold and Clara Flynn; brother, Floyd "Hap" Davis and his wife Phyllis; his twin sister Doris Hoskinson and sister-in-law Patricia Flynn. Dale will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 66 years, Donna; sons Duane Davis of Gowrie; Brian Davis and wife Lee Ann of rural Jefferson; grandchildren: Talisha Davis, Travis Davis, Chealyn Davis, Artur Plyaskin, Jennifer Laub and husband Kris, and Justin Davis and wife Melissa; his 9 precious great grandchildren: Colby Laub, Collin Laub, Aubrey Davis, Maia Davis, Gavin Davis, Adriana Echevarria, Isaiah Echevarria, Robert Hofbauer, and Aaliyah Davis. Dale is also survived by his brothers-in-law Dean Hoskinson and Melford Flynn; many wonderful nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends. tion.
