Dale E. Dickinson, 73, passed away at his home in Pleasant Hill on Friday, March 17, 2023.
Dale was born on June 13, 1949 in Washington, Iowa. He was a graduate of Ottumwa High School and Indian Hills Community College. He worked for Hy-Vee Grocery Stores as an Assistant Manager and later worked at Quik Trip as a Night Assistant Manager. He married Sue Stirts on October 16, 1971. To this union one daughter was born, Tori. Dale proudly served in the United States Army and was deployed to Vietnam. Dale loved to cook meals and host family at his home. He was a magnificent cook, but family favorites were his ham balls and cheesy potatoes. Dale loved his family and spending as much time with them as he could. He enjoyed watching football, especially his Kansas City Chiefs.
Dale is survived by his wife, Sue; daughter, Tori (Brent) Long; brothers, Bill (Colleen) and Brian Dickinson; grandchildren, Grace Godfrey, McKenzie (fiancé, Casey Muessigmann) Long, and David Long; along with many extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Nile; and brothers, Ronnie and Nile Jr. Dickinson.
A Celebration of Life will be held on April 16th from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm at The Des Moines Police Officers Recreation Building in Pleasant Hill, Iowa. A graveside service will be held on April 17th at 11:00 am at the lowa Veterans Cemetery in Adel, Iowa. Memorials may be donated to the Food Bank of lowa and/or the ARL of Iowa as these were two causes that meant a lot to Dale.
