Dale Johnson

October 30, 1947 — February 14, 2023

Dale Johnson, 75, of Winterset, passed away comfortably at his home with his daughter and son-in-law by his side.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 22, 2023 at Caldwell Parrish Funeral Home, Winterset Chapel. A private burial will be held at a later date in the Winterset Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be donated to the Winterset American Legion, and/or the Winterset VFW.

Dale was born on October 30, 1947 in Des Moines, Iowa to Charles and Phyllis (Stephens) Johnson. He graduated from Winterset High School.  He served in the United States Army in Vietnam from 1967 to 1969. For many years, he worked for the Des Moines Water Works.

Dale enjoyed hunting and fishing in his free time and went as much as he could until his eyesight went downhill. He loved to take his daughter, Lundi, fishing when she was younger. He liked to watch old western movies. Dale was a jack of all trades, but a master of none. He was incredibly handy and could fix just about anything. He was a true friend and never hesitated to help someone in need.

Dale is survived by his daughter, Lundi (Joe) Johnson; granddaughter, Heather (Ray) Cramer; great-grandchildren, Barrett, Eli, Paisley, and one on the way. He was preceded in death by his parents, and grandparents.
