Daniel Paul Wees, 81, of Johnston and formerly of Omaha, passed away on March 25, 2024, at UnityPoint Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.
Visitation for Daniel will be Monday, April 1, 2024 from 10:00 AM until the time of Mass at 11:00 AM at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 3663 66th Street, Urbandale, IA. Luncheon will follow in the Martha and Mary Fellowship Hall. Interment will conclude at McDivitt Grove Cemetery in Urbandale.
Born on January 16, 1943, in Omaha, Nebraska, Daniel was the cherished son of Paul Peter and Helen Ann (Stavis) Wees.
Daniel's journey began at Omaha South High School, where he laid the foundation for a life filled with accomplishment and adventure. On November 9, 1963, he embarked on a lifelong partnership with his beloved Phyllis Wolski, and together they wove a tapestry of love and commitment that spanned 55 beautiful years until her passing on March 1, 2019.
His creativity knew no bounds, whether he was crafting intricate stained-glass pieces, casting lines while fishing, or skillfully shaping wood in his woodworking projects. However, amidst his many talents and hobbies, Daniel's greatest joy came from spending time with his cherished family, whose love and presence enriched his life beyond measure.
Daniel Paul Wees will be remembered as a devoted husband, a loving father, a doting grandfather, and a loyal friend.
He is survived by his two sons, Jeff Wees and Doug (Susan) Wees; two grandchildren, Eli and Noah Wees; one sister, Mary Ann Wees and his companion, Shelly Svoboda.
He is preceded in death by his wife, parents and one brother, Robert Wees.
