Dante Joseph Vignaroli, 75 years old, passed away at home on Monday, February 3, 2020. Dante was born on March 26, 1944 to Antonio and Elida (Cervetti) Vignaroli in Des Moines, Iowa. He graduated from Madrid High School in 1962. After high school he completed technical IT training in computer coding. He became a computer programmer and systems analyst and wrote many significant computer programs for the city of Des Moines and State of Iowa. He enjoyed basketball and tennis and created a basketball team called Athlete’s Fighting Substance Abuse (AFSA). The AFSA team travelled the United States playing college basketball teams and sharing information about drug addiction. Dante was also the Amateur Athletic Union’s Iowa State Chairman and enjoyed promoting the development of amateur sports and physical fitness programs. Dante also created the first 3-on-3 basketball tournament held here in Des Moines fashioned after the New York City competition. In his free time he enjoyed relaxing, watching movies, dining out, chatting with his many Victoria Secrets’ Angels, solving JFK’s assassination, and writing copious letters to our government officials. Fun Fact, he is not listed in the U.S. Secret Service threat database. Yes, he enjoyed life! Dante is survived by his son, Joe and Teresa Vignaroli; Grandchildren, Elizabeth Meyer, Dante Vignaroli III, and Jacob Vignaroli; and former wife and care giver Sharon Vignaroli. He is preceded in death by his Father, Antonio Vignaroli; Mother, Elida (Cervetti) Vignaroli, and Brother, James Vignaroli. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be directed to the Powell Chemical Dependency Center, 700 University Ave, Des Moines, IA 50316. Online condolences can be expressed on his Facebook profile page where his many friends always gathered to smother him with compliments and light hearted political discussions 😉
