Services for Darin Jon Lingner were held 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 17, 2019 at Hastings Funeral Home in Perry. Visitation was after 1:00 p.m. Tuesday with family present from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Pastor Rex Deckard of the Calvary Apostolic Church in Des Moines provided words of comfort. Honorary Bearers were: Chris Galvan, Louis Cervantes, Brandi Valdez, Mary Lingner, Stacy Galvan and Brent Murphy. Casket Bearers were: Nicholas Lingner, Dawn Spidle, Matt Goff, David Lile, Andy Williams and Michelle Christopher. Recorded music selected was "Traveling Soldier," "Amazing Grace" and "Blue Eyes Crying In The Rain." Interment took place at the Violet Hill Cemetery in Perry with Military Rites done by the United States Army Detail from Camp Dodge and American Legion Post #85 from Perry. Darin Jon Lingner, son of Ciso and Jolene Galvan, was born November 21, 1978 in Perry, Iowa and died April 12, 2019 in Perry, Iowa. Darin lived in Perry pretty much all of his life. When he was 16 he got his first job at Burger King and then Hardee's. Darin graduated from Perry High School in 1998. He joined the Army National Guard on July 31, 1998. Darin did a tour in Iraq and Kuwait before being discharged on July 30, 2007. He went to DMACC to take management classes for a year and a half. He worked for IBP and the Progressive Foundry in Perry. Darin and Jessica Marie Umland were united in marriage on November 21, 2008 at their home in Perry. He loved the Iowa Hawkeye's, but what he loved most was his daughters Tahtchiana, Zari, Tayra and Opal. Darin liked to go on bike rides with them and wrestling together. He enjoyed working on cars, watching wrestling, playing games on his phone and animals; he had a lot of pets. Darin helped build the Calvary Tabernacle Church in Perry and was also a member. He worked at Osmundson's in Perry for a number of years before getting injured. Darin was preceded in death by his grandpa Robert Lingner Sr., grandma Alvena Galvan, aunt Cheryl Lingner and uncles Robert Lingner Jr. and Thomas Holiday. Darin is survived by his wife Jessica Lingner of Perry, IA; daughters: Tahtchiana Hopper of Waterloo, IA, Zari Hopper, Tayra-Grace Lingner and Opal Lingner all of Perry, IA; parents Jolene and Ciso Galvan of Perry, IA; brothers Christopher Galvan (Britani) of Des Moines, IA and Bobby Galvan of West Des Moines, IA; grandma JoAnn Lingner of Perry, IA; aunts: Mary Lingner of Perry, IA, Connie Walker and Peggy Spores both of Ankeny, IA, Mary Lee Olafson of Florida and Lucy Blair of Des Moines, IA; uncles: Joseph Little Bear of Boone, IA, Thomas Galvan of Marshalltown, IA and Stacy Galvan of Perry, IA; niece Abigail Galvan of West Des Moines, IA and nephew Damius Galvan of Des Moines, IA; other relatives and many friends.
