Darlene V. Trowbridge

December 21, 1929 — August 3, 2015

Darlene V. (Dickey) Trowbridge, 85 of Des Moines, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on August 3rd at Mercy Hospice in Johnston. She was born December 21st 1929 to Lloyd and Belle (Duff) Dickey of Winterset. Her family moved to Des Moines in 1944 where she graduated from Lincoln High. She married James Trowbridge in 1949 and after living in Des Moines for a few years they made their home in Stuart where Jim was employed at the post office. She was a telephone operator early on and then was a homemaker by choice. She also helped with home based businesses. After Jims retirement in 1979 they helped in the growth of a mission called Bibleville Conference Grounds in Alamo, TX, and watched it grow from 2 acres to 49. She loved music; especially the hymns of faith and sang with her sister at many funerals. She was never afraid to share her faith with anyone and everyone she met. She never met a stranger! Her greatest joy came from her family. Her grandchildren and great- grandchildren lovingly referred to her as Grandma T. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her sister Della Earhart, her sister-in-law Betty Trowbridge and great-granddaughter Rylee Trowbridge. Left to celebrate her earthly departure are her son George (Deb) Trowbridge of Polk City, daughter Renee (Jerry) Hoy of Grimes, grandchildren, Anjanete (Chris) Morin, Jamison (Staci) Hoy, and Ryan Trowbridge. Great-grandchildren, Lydia, Franklin, Coleman & Hamlin Morin, Lincoln & Hadli Hoy. Brother Richard (Jan) Dickey of Arizona, brother-in-law Cy Earhart of Stuart, and sister-in-law Jean (Don) Tyler of Colorado, many nieces, nephews, and friends. Visitation will be at 10:00 AM on Saturday, August 8, 2015 at Central Community Church, 8105 Douglas Ave, Urbandale, Iowa with a service to follow at 11:00AM. Lunch will be provided following the service. A burial is planned for a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Mercy Hospice.
