Darrell D. Booth

Darrell Dean Booth, son of Paul C Booth and Virginia Peterson Booth, was born October 3, 1951 in Jefferson, Iowa; and died October 6, 2008 at his farm home in Greenbrier Township near Bagley; at the age of 57 years and 3 days. Darrell lived on the same farm his entire life and graduated from Bayard High School in 1969. He farmed with his father and also worked at American Athletic Equipment from 1969 until the fall of 1978. When his father's health failed, Darrell gave up his job to attend just to the farm. Darrell was married to Kathy Jean Lowe July 28, 1979. They are the parents of one son Bryan and one daughter Jill. He later worked for PMA, Professional Machinery Assembly in Bayard from 1995 until 2007 when his health would not allow him to work. Darrell loved tinkering in his shop, country dancing, and watching MASH on television for many years, but his greatest love was his family. He and grandson Ely instantly bonded and they were best buddies. Darrell enjoyed his membership in the Greenbrier Church and was also a Farm Bureau member. Darrell was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Virginia. He will be greatly missed by his wife Kathy of Bagley; son Bryan and wife Heather; grandson Ely; daughter Jill and friend Jason Kroeger; all of Jefferson; sister Connie Biondi and husband Roger of Johnston; nephew Mike Biondi and friend Lisa Mefferd of Des Moines; niece Paula Suckow and husband Jim of Urbandale; 3 great-nephews; brother of his heart, Dennis Murphy and wife Terry of Jefferson; mother-in-law Jean Lowe of Jefferson; sister-in-law Lori Tibbs and husband Jack of Cedar Rapids; other relatives and many, many friends.
