Services for Daryl Glen Luther were held 10:00 a.m. Tuesday June 11, 2019 at the Gospel Open Bible Church in Jefferson. Visitation was after 1:00 p.m. Monday June 10, 2019 at Hastings Funeral Home in Jefferson with the family present from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. Pastor Chad Cummings provided words of comfort. Honorary bearers were: Ellie Ratliff, Evan Luther, Emmit Luther, Hagen Luther, Connor Luther, Marysa Luther, Jagger Luther and Joshua Luther. Casket bearers were: Daryl Luther, Jesse Luther, Tony Ratliff, Garrett Stevens, Cameron Stevens and Chris "Herb" Stevens. Music selected was "Angels Among Us," "Brown Eyed Girl" and "18 Wheeler." Military rites were done by the United States Army Detail from Camp Dodge, VFW Post #9599 of Jefferson, American Legion Post #11 of Jefferson and the Freedom Riders. Following the services was a luncheon at the church. Interment will take place at a later date at Mamrelund Cemetery in Roland, Iowa. Daryl "Glen" Luther, son of Deryl Raymond Luther and Lois Maxine (Braland) Luther, was born November 3, 1963 in Rockford, Illinois and died June 4, 2019 at the Iowa Methodist Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa at the age of 55. Glen graduated from Boone High School in 1981. He enlisted in the United States Army on November 6, 1984 and went to Garlstedt, Germany where he operated a Bradley Tank. On October 12, 1989 Glen and Mary Ilene Stevens were united in marriage. They met in Boone, Iowa then moved to Rockford, Illinois; Naples, Florida; back to Greene County Iowa; and in April of this year to West Des Moines, Iowa. Glen worked as an interior and exterior residential painter and on billboards most his life. Glen was currently working as truck driver for MCA. He enjoyed fishing, poker, the casino, racing, and golfing. Glen loved spending time with his entire family, children, grandchildren and his brother-in-law Bip Stevens. Glen was preceded in death by his parents Deryl and Lois Luther and his niece Suzie Luther. Glen is survived by his wife Mary of West Des Moines; four children: Ashlea Ratliff (Tony) of West Des Moines, Daryl Luther II of Jefferson, Jesse Luther (Clarissa) of Madrid and Kelli Luther of Jefferson; eight grandchildren: Ellie Ratliff, Evan Luther, Emmit Luther, Hagen Luther, Connor Luther, Marysa Luther, Jagger Luther and Joshua Luther; brothers John Luther (Kathy) of Florida and Donnie Luther (Debbie) of Arizona; sister Cheryl Cline (Dale) of Arizona; mother-in-law Inez Stevens; aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, friends and the loving Steven's family.
