David Blair

November 5, 1982 — January 7, 2024

David Lee Blair, 41, of Winterset, was born in Carroll, Iowa on November 5, 1982 to Darrell Blair and Sharyl Smith.

David lived in Macksburg for the first few years of his life, then moved to Creston. At the age of eight he moved from Creston to Winterset where he attended Winterset schools and graduated from Winterset High School in 2001. When David wasn’t wrenching on something with a motor he liked to spend his time with his friends and helping others, he was always on the move.

David passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, January 7th, 2024.

After high school, David would spend his time working, hanging out with his friends, and causing absolute mayhem. David spent many hours rebuilding his purple S10 pickup he loved dearly. Shortly after high school, David became a father to his son, Quenton Eller, and to his dismay he had to upgrade to a “dad” car.

David worked at Middle River Gun And Pawn, as well as doing what he did best, working on cars for a small dealership called Car Source. Soon after he started there he became a father to his daughter Harli Blair.

A few years later, David went on to get married and have two more children, Khyli and Triston Blair with his then wife, Melissa Bullis.

After their divorce David went on to have two more children, Myli and Brinli Blair with his partner, Melissa Wolken.

David worked for Iowa Mobile Repair and Towing for the last few years. He was a hard worker, and enjoyed being a part of their work family.

David spent a lot of his time in the garage, building derby car after derby car, race car after race car. He spent many weekends at the speedway or in the pits at the local demo derby. He LIVED for speed and adrenaline. He made sure his energy was felt wherever he was

David was a friend to many, but most importantly was a father of six. David loved his kids with everything he had, and taught them the value of hard work. He also taught them how to just scrape by and how to fully succeed. He went through tough times and flourished at other times. He was funny, reliable, and crazy all at the same time.

David is survived by his grandmother, Alice Brown; father, Darrell (Carolyn) Blair; mother, Sharyl Smith (Kelly Kasal); bonus father, Jeff (Allison) Coffman; his partner of 10 years, Melissa Wolken; children, Quenton (Haley) Eller, Harli, Khyli, Triston, Myli, and Brinli Blair; siblings, Brooke (Shaun) Wirtz, and Drue Coffman; bonus siblings, Kinzey Ripperger, Kayle Young, Kristina Benshoof, and Josh Kraack; and grandson, Everett Eller.

He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Phillip Smith and Lee Blair; and brothers, Dallas Blair and Memphis Ripperger.
