David Calister, began lifes journey on May 19, 1923 in Des Moines, Iowa to the union of Helen and Mack Calister. David died on February 21, 2015. David always believed in Jehovah and Jesus Christ. He later dedicated his life and became an active member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovahs Witness. During his life, David attended Des Moines Schools where he graduated and joined the Army. David was a World War II veteran, serving from 1943-1945. David was very active during his young adult life working at several different companies; including Detroit Diesel, Polk County Seniors and the Federal Government where he retired after 35 years of service. David was united in holy matrimony to Elizabeth Winslow who preceded him in death. He later married Dorothy Sanders on May 11, 2011. Davids pastime included playing bid whist, listening to jazz music and watching sports of every kind. David enjoyed Iowa day and was an active member of his community which he serviced the handicapped for many years. David was a member of the Coffee Club and an avid golf player. He also held association with the Valley Golf Club and was known for his fabulous smoked meats. David was preceded in death by his father, Mack Calister, his mother Helen (Johnson) Calister, brother Lloyd Calister, sister Marion Calister and Betty Calister. David leaves to cherish his memory, his wife Dorothy Calister one son: Alphonso (Annette) Settles of Clinton Township, MI., five grandchildren: Edward (JoAnna) Settles of Lincoln, NE; David (Nancy) Settles of Ames IA; Garry Settles of DesMoines, IA; Tamara Wyant (Brenda) of Palmdale, California; Alnetria Wellons of Clinton Township, MI: seventeen great grandchildren: twelve one great great grandchildren: and a host of family and friends.
