David Grant Hanson, passed away on June 11, 2023, at MercyOne Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa. He was born on April 2, 1946, in Ypsilanti, Michigan, to Rudolph and Pearl Hanson. David grew up in Jackson, Michigan, and graduated from Jackson High School. He went on to pursue his education at Michigan State University, where he earned his Bachelor's Degree in Business.
David's commitment to serving his country led him to enlist in the United States Air Force, where he served during the Vietnam War.
After his military service, David joined the Bridgestone Corporation, where he dedicated many years of his life to his career. His strong work ethic and passion for his family kept him going strong working 2-3 jobs.
Outside of work, David had a soft spot for animals, particularly his many hamsters—he was on his 73rd hamster—and the 2 family dogs. He found joy in their company and took pleasure in caring for them. Known for his sweet tooth, David could never resist indulging in his favorite treats.
David was an independent individual who thrived on challenges and enjoyed working. He embraced every opportunity to learn and grow.
In his leisure time, David found great pleasure in following the Golden State Warriors Basketball team. He was an avid fan, cheering them on with enthusiasm. Golf was another passion of his, as well as his politics.
However, above all else, David cherished the time spent with his loving wife, Debra, his children, grandchildren, and brothers. Family meant everything to him, and he found immense happiness in their presence. His love and devotion knew no bounds, and his family will forever treasure the memories created together.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Debra Hanson, his children, Heather (Shawn) Jamison; their children, Kaitlyn, Brayden, and Emily; Crystal Hart; her children, Aiden and Nate, and Nichole Morgan; her children, Olivia, Adam, and Rachel; his brothers Darrell (Karen) Hanson, Dean (Terri) Hanson, and Doug Hanson, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
David was preceded in death by his parents, Rudolph and Pearl Hanson, his sister, Darlene Hanson, and his granddaughter, Alyssa Morgan.
