David Pittman, 53 of Adel, passed away unexpectedly on November 14, 2022 at MercyOne hospital in Des Moines.
A Visitation will be held Saturday, November 19 from 10:00 to 11:00 AM, with a Celebration of Life following at 11:00 AM at the First Christian Church in Adel. Family and friends are invited to come and share fond memories and stories.
David was born on June 15, 1969 in Perry, to Darwin and Linda (Free) Pittman. David grew up in Panora and graduated from Panora-Linden High School in 1988. He participated in several activities during his school days, including football, wrestling and baseball.
Over the past 20 years, David was employed by the Des Moines Public School District and the Adel School District, where he was well respected by his coworkers and his work ethic was appreciated by all.
He married Kelly Porter on September 27, 1997. They had two boys, Dylan and Dakoda. They raised the boys in Adel, and enjoyed camping outings with their boys and close friends that they considered their camping family. David’s other hobbies included watching his Dallas Cowboys, bowling, riding his motorcycle, playing bags and consuming a Silver Bullet on occasion.
However, David’s greatest passion was his boys, and he loved watching them play sports, especially baseball. Through the years, he was always supportive of their activities based on his willingness to fill such roles as cub scout leader, coach and statistician for the baseball teams.
David will be remembered by family and friends as a loving father and husband. Everyone who knew David felt his big heart and giving nature.
David was preceded in death by his wife, Kelly and mother, Linda. He is survived by his boys, Dylan and Dakoda; father, Darwin; stepmom, Nonie; mother and father in law, Sandy & Butch Waddell; brother, Doug (Anne); nieces, Aubri (Howard) Kenney, Alyson Lieser and Katie Pittman; nephews, Clint (Ana) Lieser and Drew Pittman; and numerous other friends and relatives.
