A service for David Stanek was held 7 p.m. Friday, November 4, 2011 at Hastings Funeral Home in Perry, Iowa. Words of comfort were provided by Vicar Ken Bose of Trinity Lutheran Church in Perry, Iowa. Honorary bearers were Bob Tolle, Trinton Stanek, Bradley Kooker, John Defenbaugh, Scott Twogood, and Mason Berry. The music was "Amazed", "Butterfly Kisses", "Dust In The Wind", and "Remember Me". Following the service a time of lunch and fellowship was held at the Crossroads Church. David Douglas Stanek, son of Eugene Floyd Stanek and Carolyn Frances Smith, was born July 25, 1963 in Emmetsburg, Iowa and died in his home in Perry, Iowa November 1, 2011 at the age of 48. David moved to Perry when he was sixteen. He worked for a time at Bauer Bilt Tire until he was injured and also worked for McDonald's for five years. David was described by his family as a "backyard mechanic". He could fix almost anything and enjoyed helping others, using his talents. David also enjoyed fishing. He was married to Tamera Dawn Kooker in 2003. David was preceded in death by his father and step-mother Eugene and Delores Stanek, his grandparents Floyd and Emma Stanek, Frank and Darlene Smith, and Elbert and Janalee Reed. He is survived by his wife Tamera; mother and step-father Carolyn Frances "Fran" and William A. Gilcrest; one son Trinton Allen Douglas Stanek at home; four daughters Jessica Ann Stanek of Carroll; Tiffany Stanek , Tausha Warriner, and Tiara Dawn Stanek all of Perry; siblings: Lynne Ann Stanek and Paula Jean Stanek both of Rockford, MI; Carolyn Berry of Jefferson; Matthew and Michelle Shryock both of Graettinger; Jeffrey Lee of Lake Forest, CA; Eugene Floyd Stanek Jr. of Jefferson and Karla Sue Lamaak of Carroll; father-in-law Phil Kooker of Texas ; mother-in-law Barbara Chester of New Mexico; brother-in-law Bradley Kooker of Altoona; sisters-in-law Yolanda Kooker of Perry and Kristi Fahnholz of Council Bluffs, many nieces and nephews; other relatives and many friends.
