David Swink

David Swink, 78, entered into rest on Wednesday, July 11, 2018, in Roswell, New Mexico. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Caldwell Parrish Funeral Home on Sunday, August 19, 2018, at 2:00 PM. Dave was born in 1940, in Pennsylvania, son of Edwin and Susan Swink, and brother to Eleanor. He attended Penn State University before enlisting and serving in the Army for three years. Dave graduated from Drake University (Des Moines, IA) in 1973 and again in 1983 with Journalism degrees, enabling him to begin his twenty-four-year career with John Deere Des Moines Works. His three-month courtship with Susan Kling in 1968, resulted in marriage and two wonderful sons, Tom, with his wife Jennifer and their five children in TN, and Bruce, with his three children in IA.  Dave usually drove the 3,000 mile circle annually to see them all, until he turned seventy, then made the trip every other year. Jean Glover came into his life in 2005 and absolutely delighted him in every way possible. They took trips in North America and Europe and really loved hanging out together. Dave was always happy and optimistic, and really enjoyed his life.  He never met a stranger and will be missed by all, but never forgotten.  His legacy will live on with his children and grandchildren. Dave’s tribute was lovingly written in his honor by his family.
