David Vail Hansen

David Hansen, 53, of Des Moines, passed away on September 30, 2023.

David Vail Hansen was born to Edmund Jr. and Sharon (Johnson) Hansen on August 21, 1970 in Des Moines, Iowa. He grew up in Urbandale, and worked most recently as a welder for Dee Zee manufacturing.

David was a skilled cook who created delicious meals for his family and friends. His culinary talents were matched only by his love for taking care of others. David was always there to lend a helping hand or offer a kind word to those in need.

One of David's greatest joys in life was spending time with his grandchildren. Every week, without fail, he would visit his daughter's house to see his grandkids, sharing stories, laughter, and cherished moments. David was also incredibly handy. He possessed a unique talent for fixing things, and he relished the challenge of taking apart items and successfully putting them back together.

David is survived by his daughter, Allissa Hansen; grandchildren, Justin and Joseph Brafford; sisters, Valerie McKinney, and Victoria (Paul) Springer; a nephew, Alex McKinney; and a niece, Kendall McKinney. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edmund Jr. and Sharon Hansen.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m.,  Friday, October 13, 2023 at Caldwell Parrish Funeral Home and Crematory with a visitation taking place one hour prior beginning at 1:00 p.m. Burial will follow in the Van Meter Cemetery.
