Dean Peck, 92, of Urbandale, Iowa, was born February 20, 1932, in Hamburg, Iowa, and passed away peacefully on October 17, 2024, in Perry, Iowa. He was the beloved son of Harry and Velma (née Ruyle) Peck and the devoted husband of Ramona Peck.
Dean attended Kansas State University on a football scholarship in 1950, where he also joined the US Air Force ROTC program. After earning his degree, he proudly served his country, being stationed in Germany for the remainder of his military service. He was honorably discharged with the rank of Captain.
After his military service, Dean returned to Kansas and began his career at Goodyear Tire and later JC Penney. In 1965, he found his true calling in sales with Monarch Cement Company. His career with Monarch Cement took him to Des Moines, Iowa, in 1979, where he continued to thrive professionally.
Dean was a lifelong sports enthusiast, with a special passion for Kansas State football. He also loved golf and cherished traveling to attend football games with family and friends.
Woodcarving was another of Dean's passions, and he was particularly proud of his intricate creations of ducks, birds and Christmas ornaments. Over the years, his talent and dedication earned him three blue ribbons at the Iowa State Fair.
Dean was a lifetime member of the Iowa Ready-Mix Association, an active member of the Central Iowa Woodcarvers Association, and a proud member of the Kansas State Golden Cats.
Dean is survived by his children, Susan Peck and Rhonda Hillgren (Jim).
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ramona; brother, Edward Peck; and his parents.
