Debra Lynn Martinez

Debra Martinez, age 70, passed away November 21, 2022, at Kavanagh House in Des Moines, IA.

Debra was born October 3, 1952, in Kentucky, the daughter of Robert and Dorothy (Pierster) Smiley.

Debra was a very creative individual and loved animals especially her dogs, Brutis and Deva. She enjpyed being a homemaker and working in catering and as a rental manager.

She is survived by her children, Andie (Brad) Olson of Osage, IA and Travis (Sheila) Griffith of Walker, IA; roommate and best friend, Rodney Davis of Des Moines, IA; siblings, Sherry Laughery of Guthrie Center, IA, Mickey Gibson of Des Moines, IA, Jan Rippenger of Springfield, MO, Bob Smiley of Cumming, IA and Mike Smiley of West Des Moines, IA, along with many nieces and nephews.

Debra was preceded in death by her husband, John Martinez who was a decorated Navy Seal, and her parents.
