Debra J. Whitehead, 62, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 19, 2025 at her home in Des Moines, Iowa.
Debra Jeanne was born in Des Moines, Iowa on May 22, 1962, the daughter of Robert Sr and Sandra (Dorsey) Robinson. Later, she went on to become close with her father’s second wife Deborah Robinson, considering her a second mother. She graduated from Des Moines Tech High School in 1981 and after taking her state boards she received her LPN. She was united in marriage to Todd Whitehead on May 2, 1992.
Debra and Todd met in high school, creating an unbreakable bond and devotion to each other. Having been together for over 40 years they have been through more in that time than many experience in a lifetime. From fixing their first house to the death of Debra’s father, Todd has stood with her through it all. Their love being the type that came only from fairy tales.
She started off her career as a nurse working at nursing homes, but later she went on to work in doctors’ offices to be able to devote more time to her family. However, nursing wasn’t just a job for Debra, she had the kindest heart and cared for everyone. From the smallest animal to random strangers, she always lent a helping hand in the best way she could. Even picking up a few strays along the way.
In 2005, Debra and her husband Todd welcomed their oldest child, Casandra (Casi) Whitehead into their lives. Later, in 2009, they welcomed their second child, Luca Whitehead. Debra was proud of her children and they both treasure having her as their mother. Her smile was warm and comforting, lighting up any room she entered, a beacon of hope for her children.
She enjoyed simple things in life, the beach, her favorite shows, and spending time with those who she cherished. She and Todd spent many days together working on old tractors or on their woodworking projects. She always loved lending a helping hand, especially if it meant she got to spend more time with the ones she loved.
Her husband, Todd; her children, Luca and Casi Whitehead will be the ones left to carry on her memory. As well as siblings; Christina, Richard, Diana, Robin, and lastly Robert Jr. Though she may be gone from this earth, her warmth will never fade and our memories with her shall never be forgotten.
She is preceded in death by her grandparents; Margarie (Weaver) Robinson and Bert Elmer Robinson who cared for her during her childhood. As well as her father Robert Eugene Sr. and her Uncle Richard Allen Robinson who she was close to.
A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, April 30, 2025 at Caldwell Parrish Funeral Home, Winterset Chapel.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the family for donation to an animal rescue and/or shelter of their choice.
