Della J. Dunbar

Della Jean Farley was born September 21, 1947 to Thomas Francis and Della May (Caraway) Farley. Della’s marriage to Kenneth James Dunbar took place on Christmas Day 2000 in Winterset and she often said it was one of the happiest days of her life. She was devoted to Kenny and loved him with all of her heart. She attended Madrid High School, graduating in 1965 and later she completed a secretarial training program at DMACC. During her working career, Della was an office manager for Woodmarc Manufacturing in Winterset for 12 years and was employed as a bookkeeper for several other businesses. Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, Kenny Dunbar; her children, Ken Gallagher and wife, Mindy; Chris Ellifritt and husband, Ed; Bridget Gallagher and husband, Jimmy; Tom Gallagher and fiancé Mallory and Levi Dunbar and wife, Ashley; five siblings, Jim Farley and wife, Marilyn; Bob Farley and wife, Sherry; JoAnne Butenhoff and husband, Bob; Pat Vignovich and husband, Gary; Susie Marone and husband, Joe and 14 grandchildren, Michael, Shawn, Cassie, Jennie, Alison, Britton, Braden, Brenner, Adison, Amelia, Xavier, Talan, Quinton, and Annabelle. Della was preceded in death by her parents. Della was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church of Winterset. Her faith was important to her and her love of God helped her overcome many trials she faced in her life. Barrel racing was a big part of her life and she was a member of the NBHA District 4 (National Barrel Horse Association). She was passionate about her barrel racing and working with her horses Bea, Dandy and Ziggy. Della was loyal, honest and never spoke ill of others. You could depend upon her to be there if you needed support or a loving word of encouragement. She was also devoted to her family, cherishing every minute spent with them. She was a proud mother and an amazing grandmother who doted on all of her grandchildren. Simply put, family came first in her life. Visitation: 1:00 to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, July 30, 2009 at Ochiltree Funeral Service & Aftercare, Winterset. Service: A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 a.m., Friday, July 31, 2009 at the St. Joseph Catholic Church, Winterset. Memorial: The family requests memorials to be directed to the family.
