Delno ‘Del’ Warren Maddy, 86, of Winterset, Iowa died Tuesday, February 21, 2006, at the Winterset Care Center North in Winterset from complications associated with Alzheimer’s. Survivors include his wife, Daisy of Winterset; two sons, Frank Maddy (Thoma Lou) of Bluff Dale, Texas and Richard Maddy (Sharon) of Bremerton, Washington; a daughter Sue Miller (Dwain) of Oskaloosa; three step-daughters, Diana Partlow (Roger) of Menlo, Darcy Livingston (Greg) of Winterset, and Deb Stover (Paul) of Lorimor; a brother John Maddy (Wilma) of Des Moines; 18 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Betty, a sister, Hollace Garrett, and a stepson, Dennis Clements. Delno was born September 17, 1919 in Columbia, Iowa, the son of Frank and Mary ‘Kutz’ Maddy. He graduated from Knoxville High School where he won awards for his singing ability and was #1 in the State for his trombone playing. He married Betty ‘Frye’ on September 14, 1941 and to this union 3 children were born; Frank Edward, Roxanna ‘Sue’, and Richard Eugene. Betty passed away December 26, 1984 from cancer and Delno later married Daisy (Lenocker) Clements on March 26, 1988. Delno farmed on the home farm in Attica, until deciding to move to Pleasantville and started a dairy business where he milked cows and pasteurized milk for Hiland Dairy. He and his wife Betty, delivered milk door to door and made and sold their own Maddy Dairy Ice Cream. Later, in 1964, they started a franchise with Dairy Sweet in Monroe, Iowa. After the death of Betty and his marriage to Daisy, they moved to the Winterset area. Visitation: Olive Chapel Cemetery Service: A visitation will be held from 1:00 to 7:00 p.m., Friday, February 24th at Ochiltree Funeral Service & Aftercare in Winterset, where the family will be present to receive friends from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. A memorial service will immediately follow at 7:00 p.m., Friday with Pastor Bill Branson officiating. A second memorial service will take place at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, February 25th at the Monroe United Methodist Church in Monroe, Iowa with Pastor Harold Koughn officiating. Burial of the cremated remains will take place Saturday at the Olive Chapel Cemetery, south of Attica, following the luncheon in Monroe. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the Winterset Care Center North, Middle River Hospice of Winterset, or the Monroe United Methodist Church Choir. Memorial: 7:00 p.m. Friday , February 24, 2006 at Ochiltree Funeral Service and Aftercare in Winterset. A second memorial service will take place at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, February 25th, at the Monroe Methodist Church in Monroe. 1:00 to 7:00 p.m., Friday where family will be present to receive friends from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. February 24, 2006 at Ochiltree Funeral Service & Aftercare in Winterset.
