Delores "Polly" Holcomb, age 88 of Perry, passed away on Thursday, March 5, 2020 at the Rowley Masonic Community in Perry, IA. Memorial services will be held on Tuesday, March 10, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. at the Perry Bible Church in Perry. Visitation will be on Monday, March 9, 2020 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Carris Family Funeral Home & Cremation Care in Perry. Burial will be in the Woodward Cemetery at Woodward. Memorials will be given to the Raccoon Valley Pet Rescue and may be left at the Carris Family Funeral Home & Cremation Care. Delores "Polly" Marilyn Holcomb was born on November 16, 1931 at Perry, IA to Charles and Olive (Johnson) Challands. She graduated with the class of 1949 from Perry High School. After graduating she worked at the telephone company. She was united in marriage to Donald Myron Holcomb at First United Methodist Church in Perry on April 27, 1951. While he was in the military she worked as a secretary at the base where he was stationed. Later she kept the books for Holcomb Pharmacy. She was a member of the Perry Bible Church and Eastern Star. She enjoyed her flowers, watching birds, travelling, watching football and the Wheel of Fortune, listening to music, going fishing and boating especially on the ocean. They would go to the Ozarks to their cabin on the weekends. She liked to take her Pomeranian named Gypsy with her everywhere she went. After they retired, they spent a lot time in Florida. In death she rejoins her husband Donald, parents, Charles and Olive Challands, daughter, Lori Ann Holcomb and 2 sons, Mark Alan and David Myron Holcomb. Left to cherish Delores's memory are her daughter, Debra Van Gundy, Perry, IA, daughters-in-law, Mary Ann Holcomb and Candy Holcomb, grandchildren, Amy Van Gundy and husband Matt Nerdahl, Travis Van Gundy, Mollie Myers and husband Colby, Kassie and husband Austin Munoz, Sam Holcomb, Travis Spence and wife Bethany and Nicole Spence, great grandchildren, Audriana, Declan and Ellington Munoz, Leonidas Van Gundy, Bennett Nerdahl, Caleb and Daxton Spence and Cameron and Caiden Spence.
