He was a graduate of Winterset High School and married Phyllis Egy on January 3, 1959 and to this union two children, Terri and James were born. Dennis had fond memories of growing up on the farm and continued his love of farming, working with Rose Acres for over 20 years in various capacities over the course of his career there. Life tossed Dennis serious health challenges when he was a young adult and he responded with vigor and a smile on his face, working for much of his adult life and caring for his parents Mary and Merritt until their deaths in the 'big house' west of Winterset. His faith was a big part of his life and he was a devout life-long member of St. Joseph Catholic Church as well as a member of the Knights of Columbus. Dennis died Monday, August 2, 2010 at the West Bridge Care Center in Winterset. He was 72. Dennis is survived by his children, Terri Anthony and her husband, Mark of Maxeys, GA and James Baur and his wife, Peggy of Van Meter; five grandchildren, Jacob, Matthew and Nicholas Baur and Carson and Courtney Anthony; a brother, Jack Baur and his wife, Judy of Texas; and his Aunt Dorothy (Cunningham) Vance of LaGrange, IL.
