Dennis W. Emehiser - Adel

January 1, 1948 — December 1, 2015

Dennis William Emehiser of Adel passed away December 1, 2015 at Mercy West Lakes Hospital. Funeral services will be 11:00a.m. Friday, December 4, 2015 at the New Hope Evangelical Free Church in Adel with burial following at the Panther Creek Cemetery in Adel. Friends may call after Noon Thursday at McCalley Funeral Home in Adel, where family will greet friends from to 4-7p.m. with prayer service at 7p.m. Dennis was born in Des Moines, IA, and lived on the family farm all of his life. He had his own electrical business in the 70's and 80's after working for Pittsburgh Steel and Short's Plumbing. He attended Coyne Electrical School and Greer Electrical School in Chicago. He was a 4-H leader for many years and served on the Dallas County Fair board for 30 years. He helped to move the fairgrounds to where it is presently today. He also spent many years working there on different projects to improve the grounds and mowing. He was a member of the Iowa Cattlemen and the American Angus Association. He enjoyed working with cattle from calving to showing. He also enjoyed going to cattle shows and deer hunting when he could walk better. Dennis is survived by his wife, Linda; son, Todd (Julie) Emehiser and grandchildren, Blake, Bryce and Brooke of Ankeny; daughter, Tammy Princ of Adel; sisters, Rosalie Jensen of Earlham and Jean (Vern) Aldrich of Dallas Center, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Merritt and Gretchen Emehiser; sister, Marian Chapman and brother, Don Emehiser. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Dallas County Fair and the MS Society. Online condolences may be left at this site.
