It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Diana M. Countryman, a remarkable woman who embraced her role as a mother and grandmother with unwavering love and dedication, and whose friendship touched the lives of all who knew her. She departed from this world on May 24, 2023, leaving behind a legacy of warmth, compassion, and countless cherished memories.
Diane graduated from Valley High School in 1964. Diane worked as a Secretary at the Des Moines Transit Company and as a claims adjuster at an Insurance Company. She also worked at Baskin Robbins, Dahls and HyVee. She married Jerry Countryman on October 16, 1965, who later passed in 2006. They were happily married for 41 years.
Diane was always armed with an incredible sense of humor that could brighten the darkest of days. Her unique ability to find humor in any situation was a gift that many cherished.
To Diane, dogs were more than just pets; they were family members and faithful companions. Among all breeds, it was the gentle, droopy-eyed basset hounds that held a special place in her heart. Diana was an advocate for animal welfare, actively supporting local shelters and starting an online group. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Guardian Angel Basset Rescue in Diana’s memory.
Left to cherish her memory is her son Sean J (Danielle) Countryman; daughter Kelli L. (Frank) Hunter; brother Michael E. (Sally) Rulli; sister Roseanne (Bob) Pester; 4 grandsons; 4 granddaughters; 1 great-grandson; and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband Jerry D. Countryman; parents Joseph and Rosalie Rulli; and brother Joseph R. Rulli.
