While she lived in many different places during her childhood and often talked about the many schools that she had attended, she always considered Fremont, Iowa her hometown.
Dee married Jack Long on November 19, 1950, in Fremont where they soon started their family. They were blessed with 5 children; DeAnn (Chuck) Bandy-Adel, Deb (Denny) Kolk-Adel, Jim (Tammie) Long-Omaha, NE, Jodi (Mike) Draisey-Adel, Jeff (Mona) Long-Brooklyn, IA. They had 14 Grandchildren, 19 Great-Grandchildren and 5 Great-Great-Grandchildren. She spent most of her married life at home raising her children and had some part-time jobs as her children got older.
Dee kept busy with her hobbies of knitting, quilting and puzzle books. Saturday nights were for dances as she followed Jack to every dance that he played throughout the years. She never knew a stranger and could strike up a conversation with anyone she ever met. Talking was one of her favorite things to do.
Dee loved to travel around the U.S. and was able to share with Jack his dream to be someplace warm away from the cold Iowa Winters. They were able to spend 15 Winters of their retirement in Arizona where she made many new friends while following Jack to the jams and shows that he played while there. She was loved by many and especially adored by her husband until his final day.
Dee is survived by all her children and grandchildren, her two sisters; Shirley Deitch-Ankeny, IA and Kay (Jim) Schultz-Kirkville, IA and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, mother-in-law & father-in-law, grandson-in-law and other extended family members.
