Don E. Hill

Don E. Hill, son of M. John Hill and Bula Mae (Brelsford) Becker, was born February 16, 1938 on his parents' farm north of Perry in Boone County, Iowa and died August 29, 2010 at Hamilton County Hospital in Webster City after a long illness, at the age of 72 years, 6 months and 13 days Don graduated from Perry High School in 1956 and then entered the Marine Corps. He was honorably discharged in 1962. Don was united in marriage with Sandy Ringgenberg on September 15, 1957 at the Trinity Lutheran Church. Born to this union were two daughters: Laurie and Lisa. The couple lived in Perry, moving to Boone in 1959. He worked as a manager for F.W. Means & Company for 25 years, Hawkeye Laundry in Boone and Richard K. Cleaners in Ames. Don enjoyed camping, fishing, gardening and the Iowa Hawkeyes. His greatest joy was spending time with his children and his grandchildren's activities. He was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church. Don is survived by his wife of fifty-two years, Sandy of Boone, Iowa; daughter Laurie Weitl and her husband Doug of Templeton, Iowa; son-in law Terry Gebers of Holstein, eight grandchildren: Nicholas Weitl; Christopher Weitl; Jason Weitl; Justin Ridder; Kristina Parker and her husband Jimmy; Dawn Ridder; Brittany Ridder and Erin Gebers, and one great-grandchild: Hayley Parker. He is also survived by his sister Betty Erwin of Everett, Washington; sisters-in-law: Suzi Heldt and her husband Dean of Zearing, Iowa and Shirley Torbet and her husband Larry of Columbia, Missouri and brother-in-law Dean Brown of Leavenworth, Washington, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his daughter Lisa Gebers; parents John Hill and Bula Becker, his parents-in-law Sam and Kathleen Ringgenberg; brother Bob Hill; sister Velma Brown and sister-in-law Sharon Cox.
