Donald Williams, 87, of Lorimor went to his new home in heaven on September 25, 2020, at the Madison County Hospital in Winterset. Donald Alan Williams was born in Union County, Iowa on March 19, 1933 to Harriett (Waugh) Williams and Lyle Williams. He was married on September 16, 1951, in Lorimor, Iowa to Coleen Kirk. He was a lifetime resident of Union and Madison County. Donald was a wonderful father, husband, proud grandfather of 5 grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren. Earlier on in his life, Donald held jobs with many different companies such as Union County Road Department, Fullerton Lumber, Lorimor Co-op, Lorimor Theater and Roseman Feed and Milling. All during this time, he was a carpenter and worked on many homes and businesses in Union and Madison County as a second job. In the mid 60’s, Donald eventually worked fulltime for Herb Reed and Leo King as a carpenter with a crew, building new homes. In the mid-70’s, Donald started Williams & Son Construction with his son, Roger. They built new homes, additions and remodeled homes in Union and Madison County, and eventually the Des Moines metro area. In his retirement, Donald created and sold many of his beautiful craft wood designs. Donald and Coleen purchased an insurance agency. Coleen ran the daily business of The Williams Insurance Agency starting in 1979, while Donald was involved in the commercial policies of the business and doing inspections for Adair County Mutual. He was an active member at the Lorimor United Methodist Church for many years. In June of 2017, Donald moved to Madison Square Assisted Living in Winterset, where he has resided since. Donald is survived by his children, Melody (Randy) Black of Orlando, FL and Roger (Kathy Hill) of Windsor Heights; brother, Bob Williams (Phyllis) of Winterset; grandchildren, Dawn Stoner (Matt), Nathan Black (Lucy), Trevor (Janie Earles) Williams, Ryan (Krystal) Williams, and Blair (Stacey) Williams; great-grandchildren, Grace Stoner, Emma Stoner, Isabelle Black, Jack Williams, Mary Kay Williams, and Hunter Williams. Melody and Roger were blessed to have the example of a loving, kind, and Godly man to watch over them their entire lives.
