Hastings Funeral Home in Jefferson is in charge funeral services for Arbuckle Donald 82 of Jefferson. Don died at Regency Park Nursing and Rehab in Jefferson, Monday.Funeral services will be Saturday at 2:00 p.m.at Hastings Funeral Home in Jefferson with burial at the Jefferson Cemetery. Visitation will be after Noon on Friday Don's family will greet friends from 6:00 till 8:00 p.m. Donald Dale Arbuckle, son of Frank Ellis Arbuckle and Gladys Shorey Arbuckle, was born March 18, 1930 in Jefferson, Iowa and died April 23, 2012 at Regency Park Nursing and Rehab in Jefferson at the age of 82 years, 1 month, 5 days Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, April 28, 2012 at Hastings Funeral Home in Jefferson, Iowa. Mr. Bruce Webster Pastor of the Church of Christ, in Jefferson, Iowa provided the words of comfort. Don's casket bearers were Ed Arbuckle, Kenneth Arbuckle, Joshua Arbuckle, Stan Peickert, Joey Cummings and Duane Mosher. Go Rest High On That Mountain and Life's Railway to Heaven were the musical selections for the service. Military rites were provided by the Jefferson VFW Post #9959 and Floyd W Brown American Legion Post 11 at the Jefferson Cemetery. Don enlisted in the United States Navy from January 1949 to January 1953. He was in the reserves until 1955. Don served in Korea and was honorably discharged as a Boatswain's Mate Second Class. Don married Jane Marsh in Jefferson, Iowa and they were the parents of Jeanette and Kenneth. He later married Cleo Antonen. Don worked in Yreka, California for the Highway Department before moving back to Jefferson to work for the Iowa Department of Transportation as an Engineer, inspecting and drafting for bridges. He had continued his education through State of Iowa. Don was a proud veteran and enjoyed his membership in the local VFW post #9959. Don loved country music, hunting, fishing, camping, and dancing. He was a musician; playing all stringed instruments and the harmonica. He played with Eddie Bear and The Cubs, Janie and The Country Squires, and participated in community jam sessions in Stratford. His favorite music was old time gospel and country. Don is preceded in death by his parents, an infant son Jimmy Arbuckle, sisters Ruby Rains, and Delma Countryman, and brother Bob Arbuckle. Don is survived by his son, Kenneth Arbuckle of Jefferson; daughter Jeanette and her husband (Stan) Peickert of Long View, WA; four grandchildren; Zachary, Nathan, Joshua, and Brooke; a great-grandchild Donovan; a brother Ed Arbuckle, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. The ladies auxiliary provided a lunch and fellowship at the at the VFW Legion Hall, following the services at the cemetery.
