Donald Bryant, 88, of Winterset, died Wednesday, September 26, 2018 at his farm in rural Winterset. There are no services currently planned. Burial will be held at a later date in the Winterset Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the family and online condolences may be left at ochiltree.com. Donald Max Bryant, son of Ralph and Ella (Staker) Bryant, was born February 17, 1930 in Woodward, Iowa. He graduated from Woodward High School in 1947. Don joined the United States Air Force in 1948 and was honorably discharged on September 14, 1952. He was united in marriage with Georgia Lou Evans on February 20, 1949 in Woodward, Iowa; two children were born to this union. Together they created a comfortable and loving home near Winterset. Don was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Winterset. He was a farmer for all of his working career, who never really retired. Don also drove school bus for 34 years and enjoyed making sure children arrived safely. He enjoyed hunting and camping in his free time. Don and Georgia enjoyed going to Bluegrass Music Festivals together and became snowbirds who spent their winters in Arizona and Texas. Most of all, he cherished the time he was able to spend with his beloved grandsons and great grandchildren. Don was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend who will be greatly missed. Donald is survived by his wife of 69 years, Georgia Bryant of Winterset; children, Donald (Julia) Bryant of Washington D.C., daughter, Peggy (Bob) DuPre of West Des Moines; brother, Kenneth (Marilyn) Bryant of Camdenton, MO; three grandsons, Allen (Christy) Anderson; Aaron Anderson; Stephen (Ashlee) Bryant; eight great grandchildren, Alexa Anderson; Dylan Anderson; Cassandra Anderson; Britney Herr; Ethan Anderson; Brooklyn Herr; Jane Bryant; Grayson Bryant; many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Ella Bryant, two brothers, Raymond (Donna) Bryant; Bernard (Nancy) Bryant; and a sister, Virginia (George) Trondson.
