Donald Choate

Donald Ray Choate, "Donnie" was born May 13, 1970 in Perry, Iowa to James Orrin and Donna Jean Payton Choate. Donald received his education at the Jamaica, Jefferson, and Grand Junction school districts. He was a tire manufacturer at Firestone in Des Moines for several years and worked in construction in recent years. Donnie was known for being a prankster who was always willing to help others. He was a reliable employee and trusted friend. He liked animals, including a wolf dog and several cats. Donnie loved to fish and enjoyed riding his bicycle. Donald Ray Choate, 47, died on June 26, 2017 in Des Moines, Iowa. Donald was preceded in death by his mother, Donna Jean Payton Choate, grandparents, Raymond and Dorothy Lewis and Fon and Dorothy Choate and his brother Gregory Choate. Donald is survived by his father, James Choate (Joyce) of Lake City. Brother Dale (Renee) Choate, Ogden. Sisters Beatrice Elliott (Mike) Kingsville, Texas and Jeannie Choate Grimes, Iowa. Step sisters Lavina Hicks, Lake City, Iowa, Darlene Hicks VanderWilt (Chris), Zealand, Michigan and Drenda Hicks, Lohrville, Iowa. Several nieces and nephews, numerous cousins and friends. No services are planned at this time. Donnie's cremated remains will be laid to rest in the Jefferson Cemetery Jefferson, Iowa. Memorials are respectfully requested to go to the family for later designation.
