Donald Kermit Hall, son of Frank L. Hall and Liona Wilson Hall, was born August 28, 1922 in Paton, Iowa and died October 9, 2009 at Regency Park Nursing and Rehab in Jefferson, Iowa at the age of 87 years 1 month, and 11 days . Funeral services were held at10:30 Tuesday, October 13, 2009 at Hastings Funeral Home, Jefferson, Iowa with Rev. Gordon Moen of the First Presbyterian Church of Jefferson, presiding, honorary casket bearers were Jim Hall, Jerry Hall Ernie Hall, Leo "Swede" Davis, Paul Mears Jr., Vincent Monahan ,Joe Davis and Harold Peterson. Don's casket bearers were Bill Hall, John Lynch, Steve Hall, Roger Garnett, Gary Hoskins, Vince Kennedy and Max Johnson with Marilynn Hoskinson playing and singing, Just As I Am and Beyond The Sunset with burial in the Jefferson Cemetery. A lunch was served by the First Presbyterian Church, following the burial. Don grew up in the Cooper and Jefferson areas. On February 21, 1943, he married Margarete Louise Delp in Jefferson. They were blessed with three children, Donna Marie, Dennis Dale, and David Mark. They made their home south of the airport where Don farmed. Don and Margarete moved a couple of times, but always within a two mile radius! Don loved to play cards and truly enjoyed playing pinochle with his friends. On weekends Don would take his family fishing and hunting. Although he technically retired, he remained active on the farm. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Farm Bureau, and the Elks Lodge. Don was preceded in death by his parents Frank and Liona; and two brothers Raymond and Harold Hall. He is survived and lovingly remembered by his wife of 66 years, Margarete; daughter Donna Armstrong and husband Wayne of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; sons Dennis Hall and wife Janelle of Jefferson and David Hall and wife Margo Schilling of Iowa City, Iowa; 4 grandchildren, Todd E. Armstrong and wife Keri; Claire E. Hall; Benjamin Hall; and Haley Jo Hall; 3 great grandchildren, Dillon, Layney, and Wyatt, numerous nieces and nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends.
