Donald Lee Wigfield

Donald Lee Wigfield "Donnie", 74, of Perry, Iowa passed away on Monday, October 17, 2016 at the Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa following an illness he was fighting the last three months. Donnie was the son of Vernon and Merle Opal Neel Wigfield. He was born in Chaska, Minnesota on August 29, 1942. Donald and his family moved to Perry in 1948 and he attended the Perry Community Schools. He enlisted in the United States Navy for a brief time before returning home to work for the United States Railroad. Donnie retired from the Railroad in 1997, after 37 years of service. Donnie was preceded in death by his parents: Vern (1966) and Merle Wigfield (2008); brothers: Howard Clyde (2013) and Larry Neel (2014); sister-in-law Anita Wigfield (2016); brother-in-law Robert Lingner Sr. (2009); niece Cheryl Denise Lingner (1957); and nephews: Tony Wigfield (1993), Greg Wigfield (2003) and Robert Lingner Jr. (2011). Donnie is survived by his sister JoAnn Lingner of Perry; brother Vernon Wigfield (Rita) of Eden Prairie, MN; sister-in-law Bonnie Wigfield of Norwood, MN; numerous nieces & nephews including: Mary Lingner-Car (Rick) of Bouton, Andy Wigfield (Julie) of Hamburg, MN and Shaun Wigfield (Tauna) of Chaska, MN; great-niece Brandi Valdez (Carlos) of Perry; great-nephew Nick Lingner of Bondurant and niece Becky Walton of Ames. Hastings Funeral Home in Perry is in charge of the arrangements. In accord with Donald's wishes, no services will be held.
