Don passed away October 2, 2013 at Mercy Hospital. Funeral Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, October 5, at McCalley Funeral Home in Adel, with burial at Panther Creek Cemetery. Friends may call after 2 p.m. Friday, October 4th at the funeral home where family will greet friends from 4:00 to 7:30 p.m., until prayer service begins at 7:30 p.m. Don was born October 14, 1949 in Des Moines, IA to Merritt and Gretchen (Caudle) Emehiser of Adel, the youngest of five children. He married Betty (Henson) Emehiser on August 1, 1970 and had two children, Cory and Kristy. Don lived in Adel as a young man, attended Adel Schools and graduated in 1967, then attended DMACC in Ankeny, later moving to Prole and then to Johnston. He is survived by wife Betty of 43 years, children Cory (Jill) Emehiser and Kristy (Gary) Giefer, grandchildren Katelin and Alex Emehiser and Grant and Gavin Giefer. Siblings Rosalie Jensen, Jean (Vern) Aldrich, and Dennis (Linda) Emehiser. A member of St. Paul Lutheran Church of Martensdale for many years, he was active in his church and a member of the Antique Automobile Club of America, Des Moines Region. He worked for Aristech Chemical until his retirement in 1995. Don was preceded in death by his parents Merritt and Gretchen Emehiser, sister Marian Chapman, and granddaughter Lily Emehiser. He will be missed by many friends and relatives. Memorial contributions may be directed to his church, St. Paul Lutheran Church of Martensdale. Online condolences may be left at this site.
