Donald Opperthauser

Donald Opperthauser, 80, of Grimes, IA entered the presence of his Savior on August 24, 2021 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. A visitation will be from 1:00-2:00 PM on Friday, August 27, 2021 at the Maranatha Baptist Church, 877 SE 19th Street, in Grimes. The Celebration of Life Service will start at 2:00 PM at the church. Burial will follow the service at Sunny Hill Cemetery in Grimes. Don was born on March 2, 1941 in Detroit, MI to Arthur & Violet Opperthauser. He was a 1959 graduate of Cass Technical High School in Detroit and went on to graduate from Baptist Bible College in 1963. He married Donna in Springfield, MO that same year. Don was always involved in missions and the church. He had many hobbies over the years, but his current activities centered around woodworking and playing in various local orchestras. Don is survived by his wife; children, Ellen (David) Liska, Phil (Stephanie) Opperthauser; 6 grandchildren & 2 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents.
