Donald Rolfe

January 3, 1925 — February 7, 2012

Donald Lavone Rolfe, son of Charles Lester Rolfe and Minnie Linn, was born January 3, 1925 in Council Bluffs, Iowa and died February 7, 2012 at the Lutheran Home in Perry, Iowa at the age of 87. Donald grew up in Council Bluffs and went to school there. He entered the Army in May of 1941 and served in WWII in the Aleutian Islands. He was honorably discharged in 1945. Donald was untied in marriage with Betty Jane McSorley in1945 in Council Bluffs. In 2002 they moved to Rapid City South Dakota before settling in Minburn in September of 2011. Donald worked for Briggs Plumbing Company in Omaha and then as a mail handler for the Union Pacific Railroad. He retired in 1962. Donald enjoyed carpentry, scrapbooking, gardening vegetables and flowers, and tinkering. He was a Lifetime member of the VFW and was on the firing squad over 20 years. Donald was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Dan Rolfe; three brothers: Bud, Jack and Lloyd; and two sisters: Evelyn and Phyllis. Donald is survived by his wife Betty; two sons: Dave (Sheryl) Rolfe of Minburn, IA; and John (Lynne) Rolfe of Rapid City, SD; four grandchildren: Caren (Rob) McMahon of Minburn; Toby (Amy) Rolfe; Kim Rolfe; and Matthew Rolfe; and eight great-grandchildren.
