Donald W. Bell

No services are planned. Burial will be in the Iowa Veterans Cemetery near Van Meter. Memorials may be directed to the family. Donald W. Bell was born October 8, 1932 in Grinnell, the son of James and Ruth (Clark) Bell. Donald served in the United States Navy from 1951 to 1955 and later married Sharon Merical in Des Moines on October 4, 1957. He worked as a trucker driver most of his working career, retiring from Unisource, and for a time, owned Bell’s Delivery along with his father and brother. Donald enjoyed building things. He spent time woodworking and doing handy work. He also enjoyed golfing, flying and boating. Donald died Monday, February 20, 2012. He was 79. He is survived by his wife, Sharon; daughter, Charmane Bell (Gene Munion); grandson, Eric; brother, Barry Bell (Marilyn) all of Des Moines; a sister-in-law, Joan Heatherwick of Baton Rouge, LA; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Dale Bell.
