Donna Darlene 'Formerly Of Dexter' Thompson - Stuart

Darlene, 89, of Stuart, formerly of Dexter, passed away Friday, July 10, 2015, at Mercy West Lakes Hospital in West Des Moines. Darlene was born in Nevada, Iowa, located in Story County, on November 1, 1925 to Charlie and Lena Maroney. She was a graduate of the Dexter Community School. Darlene was happily married to Gaylord for almost 71 years and blessed with three children, Chuck (Karla), Christie and Ed (Linda). Christie and Ed preceded her in death. Darlene loved her family, her church, her friends, and her hometown. She especially loved all children and always saw the best in all of them. She was especially proud of her Irish heritage. She is survived by her husband, Gaylord; son, Chuck (Karla); daughter-in-law, Linda (Billy); four grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews, who mourn her passing. Special thanks are offered to the staff of the Willows Assisted Living Center in Stuart for the many kindnesses they gave to Darlene while she lived there. A memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 25th at the Dexter United Methodist Church, with family greeting friends from 9-10:30 a.m. before the service. A lunch will be served in the church fellowship hall after the service concludes. Burial of the cremains will take place with family members at a later date. Memorial contributions may be directed to the family to be donated to the Dexter United Methodist Church and the Dexter Round House. Online condolences may be left at this site.
