Donna Jean Nash

Donna Jean Nash, 69, of West Des Moines, IA, passed away peacefully on June 17, 2024.

Donna was born on October 16, 1954 to John and Virginia (Allred) Miller in Fort Dodge, IA. After Donna graduated from Fort Dodge High School in 1972, her adventurous spirit took her to Denver, CO for a year, where she worked and lived, exploring the beautiful Rockies and the charming mountain towns.

After moving back to Des Moines, Donna eventually ended up working as a clerk for the United States Postal Service where she spent the bulk of her professional career. In 1979 Donna gave birth to her daughter, Jamie Anderson, and maintained a close relationship with her until her passing.

Donna had a love of nature that led her to move to Kailua-Kona, HI for five years before moving back to West Des Moines, IA, to be closer to her family and friends. She also loved Country music and dancing as well as motorcycle riding, cooking, and traveling, all of which she would enjoy with her daughter Jamie when possible.

Donna was preceded in death by her parents, John and Virginia Miller; brothers Kevin and Billy Miller; sister Janice Miller; and half-sister and half-brothers, Delores, Richard, John, and Lesly Miller.

She is survived by her daughter Jamie (Troy) Anderson; her brothers and sisters Robert “Bob” Miller, Theresa (Dan) Spangler, Melissa Farhat; her half-brothers and half-sister Chuck (Sharon) Myer, Elmer (Gwen) Miller, Linda (Glenn) Williams, and Steven Myer; close friend Jim Hand; and a number of nieces and nephews and numerous other family members, friends, and acquaintances.

A visitation, followed by a memorial service, will be held at Caldwell Parrish in Urbandale, IA, on July 8, 2024, from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm. Burial will occur at Laurel Hill Cemetery in Des Moines following the service.
