Donna Leah Marcks daughter of Adrian McQuerry and Ruth Peerson McQuerry, was born July 16, 1928 in Warrensburg, Missouri and died February 20, 2013 in Perry, Iowa at the age of 84. She loved all kinds of music and had a beautiful singing voice. After high school, Donna went to Central State College in Warrensburg, Missouri, where she met the love of her life, Ray. They were both in the college choir. On April 2, 1949 Donna and Raymond Marcks were united in marriage. They were blessed with two sons Eric and Craig. Ray's position with J C Penny's Department Store took the family to different communities where they were always active. Donna taught vocal music in Sedalia, Missouri; then taught in Beloit, Wisconsin; Winterset, Iowa; and then Perry. After retirement, she stayed busy being a substitute teacher until she suffered a stroke. As before, Donna was active in the Perry community and the First United Methodist Church. She sang in the choir. She enjoyed sewing, reading and needle work. Donna and Ray liked their birds and playing with their dogs Teddy "their dust mop tiny dog" and Craig's "big dog" Rocky. She was a very thoughtful and kind person. Donna was preceded in death by her parents; sons Eric Marcks (12/31/2003) and Craig Marcks (7/6/2008); and brother-in-law Hugh Thomas Ferguson. Donna is survived by her husband of 63 years, Raymond of Perry; sister Lois Ferguson of Davenport, Iowa; sister-in-law Mary Alice McFadden of Lexington, Missouri; niece Bonnie Wetzel (Michael); nephews Tom Marcks (Mary) and Douglas Marcks (Diane); seven great nieces and nephews; special friends Scott McAdam and his wife Nancy of Des Moines; other relatives and many friends. www.hastingsfh.com
