In Loving Memory of Donna M. Royer Donna Marie Royer, a beloved sister, mother, grandmother, aunt, wife, and friend, graced this world with her presence on August 10, 1935, in Perry, Iowa. Her life, rich in love, dedication, and a unique spirit, came to a peaceful close on November 30, 2023. Donnas early years were devoted to nurturing her three children, laying the foundation for a family marked by closeness and mutual support. Her journey then led her to a fulfilling career spanning nearly 30 years in the Perry School systems cafeteria and kitchen. Here, she became known for her small acts of kindness, often sneaking an extra snack to her grandchildren in the lunch line. Her boundless love for her family shone brightly as she was a steadfast presence at their concerts, plays, dance recitals, and sporting events always cheering them on with pride and joy. Her 67-year marriage to Joe Royer was a testament to enduring love and partnership. Together, they shared numerous adventures, from exploring the mountains of Colorado and Utah in their Jeep to embracing the beauty of the great outdoors. Summers were especially cherished, as they spent days at the family cabin on Spirit Lake, creating memories that would last a lifetime. Donna, a respected and devoted member of the Perry United Methodist Church, was honored with a Lifetime Achievement of Service Award. This accolade celebrated her extensive and unwavering commitment to the church. Donna was also actively engaged in her community by dedicating her time to various civic duties, including serving as an election worker, contributing to Crime Stoppers, and many other volunteer activities. Donnas zest for life extended beyond her immediate surroundings. She cherished moments spent with friendsespecially during trips to Las Vegas, where she enjoyed the thrill of slot machines and the warmth of good company. Her hobbies included elaborate cross-stitching, immersing herself in her favorite shows and books, and caring for stray cats that wandered to her home on Evelyn St., reflecting her boundless capacity for kindness. Preceded in death by her parents, Nola A. Hopkins/Roy and Warren G. Roy, Donnas legacy of love and warmth lives on through her family: her "favorite" brother Jerry (Linda) Roy; her devoted husband Joe D. Royer; their beloved sons, Craig W. Royer and Doug G.
